Below are links to a BBC documentary series on man's pursuit to capture the infinite with his symbols and words. It is called "dangerous knowledge" because many of the men who devoted their lives to this pursuit, went mad.
They went mad because they could not see the hubris and the folly of their pursuit. They believed, as most still believe, that the infinite God can be known by the individual finite mind, and that this voice that speaks to them within their individual finite mind, is the voice of infinity itself. There have been, and continue to be, countless philosophers, scientists and spiritualists that believe that they have been chosen to reveal the secrets of the Mind of God via their particular extension branch of the human mind. Some via mathematics, some via logic and reason, some via ecstasy of sublime image. Not one of them stopping to contemplate that infinity, by its very nature, has to be, must be, that which is beyond every symbol, archetype, myth or metaphor that arises from its silence as an effect of its invisible cause. Man pursues an image or a symbol, and believes that image or symbol, when grouped together with other images and symbols, to be the whole of God revealed. The story is as old as prehistoric man himself, the prehistoric man who drew, with the blood of the animals he killed, symbols on the wall of the cave of the God of the human mind.
It is an irony to this writer that those who write of waking up from this madness of trying to become God via the resurrection of fragmented idea and feeling, and instead, of repenting of this impossible feat of human pride, are often accused of bringing 'dangerous knowledge.' This writer understands this accusation, because it seems to be a sane activity to remain within the security of human thought while pursuing the infinity of one's being, and an insane activity to step away from the security of human thought so as to allow the infinity of one's being to reveal itself of its silence. Silence, to man, is frightening, for its seems, to him, to be of a dead world. To the man of who is wholly identified with the noise of his sense interpretations, silence is indeed the perceived enemy.
And yet, man has been given a path, a way to step into the silence of himself by those who have gone before him, those who awakened to the folly of their human attempt to make God a man of divided thought as he is a man of divided thought. Jesus was such a man; he came to light the way for the man whose knee was bent in his humbleness of his realization that the infinity of God had nothing to do with the resurrection of symbols or of words. He lit the way of "I will never leave or forsake you," for the Way, the Truth and the Life, is the way of Thought, the Way of human thought purgation, for there is always only Thought, even, especially, when its finite expression is being swallowed up of [the infinity] of Life.
There are thousands of belief systems alive today that claim to have divine flesh knowledge of God's nature; each one no different in essence than that of the prehistoric man with his stick dipped in blood. Dangerous knowledge is the knowledge of the man who believes that flesh is the way of immortality, for it is a path of impossible attainment. There are millions who listen to men who bring the false promise of the immortality of flesh, of symbol, of word, and few who listen to the truth that no such immortality of flesh exists. The madness continues.
Jesus and Gautama and Lao Tzu came to demonstrate that there is nothing dangerous about the silence of you, but your mind will want you to believe this lie, because once you relax into the infinity of the silence of you, it knows that its voice of hollow promises of becoming God will be silenced. And once silenced, you will come to see that that which can be silenced, cannot be the truth of the God of the Whole of the Infinity of you. Allow me to repeat this truth in the hope that just one person will awaken to the old age/new age madness of 'becoming God', of the lie that man can know God by way of his dualism of seeking: That which can be silenced, cannot be the truth of the God of the Whole of the Infinity of you.
